Med bara några veckor kvar till EM i Belgien byter FIA den officiella däckleverantören.
Bridgestone, som tidigare varit den officiella däckleverantören för kartingens mästerskapsklasser, har meddelat att man på grund av Covid-19 inte kan leverera den mängd däck som behövs. Därför behövdes en ny leverantör utses och snacket har gått i depåer och på nätet om vem det kunde bli. Och nu står det klart att det är MG Tires som blir den nya leverantören, sedan detta beslutats i World Motor Sport Council.
FIA Karting: The FIA has recently been informed that Bridgestone is no longer able to supply tyres to FIA Karting Championships, Cups and Trophies due to logistical problems with COVID-19. In light of this situation, and acting in the best interests of the sport, it was important for the FIA to find a feasible and immediate alternative solution for the supply of tyres for events to be held on the European continent in 2021. In an electronic vote on 27 April 2021, the World Motor Sport Council has therefore, in addition to its selection as the exclusive tyre supplier for the FIA Karting events to be held in Brazil in 2021, selected MG Tires as the exclusive supplier of replacement tyres for the FIA Karting Championships, Cups and Trophies organised on the European continent in 2021, with the exception of the Superkart category.
Detta är såklart anmärkningsvärt då det endast är några veckor kvar till EM i Genk i Belgien för klasserna OK och OKJ.
